Star Wars Galaxies’ House Pack-Up pushes through today

House Pack-Up goes live today - Image 1The developers of MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies just announced that the postponed in-game event House Pack-Up will finally push through today. Producer Lorin W. Jameson came up with a post over at the game’s official community site around two weeks ago saying that he’s not comfortable about going live because of certain issues with the event.

It seems that the said issues, whatever they may be, are all fixed now as the Galactic Vacant Building Demolitions Crew will be ready to begin demolition after a brief maintenance period at 12:00 p.m. PDT. To those not familiar with the event, House Pack-Up intends to demolish any house, factory, or player association hall that has been abandoned by its owner since April 16 of last year.

Take note that each player is allowed to pack up a total of five buildings every 24 hours. If you see the sign with the red “Abandoned” text, all you have to do is open the radial menu and choose “Structure Management > Pack Up This Building” to initiate the bombing.

In the event that you find your own in-game infrastructure affected by this event, don’t worry as details and info will appear in your datapad once you return to the galaxy. Don’t forget that you can actually always unpack your house in a new location and the structure will be restored with all your possessions inside.

Lastly, the Galactic Vacant Building Demolitions Crew is giving away something for the players who are willing to help with the said operation. The rewards for being a good citizen of the galaxy far, far away are as follows:

  • Civilians who mark ten buildings for destruction receive the Junior Wrecking Crew Worker Badge.
  • Hard-working citizens who clear out 50 abandoned structures are recognized for their destructive talents with the Wrecking Crew Manager Extraordinaire badge.
  • Each successful destruction of an abandoned structure, you receive one reward point. Reward points are redeemable at the Lucky Despot in Mos Eisley for in-game items that can be used for decoration.
