Star Wars: The Old Republic will have space combat
There’s a reason why player ships will be showing up in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and it’s not just so players can have a customizable place to sleep and keep their belongings. They’ll also be used to blast the living hell out of other players’ ships.

Community manager Sean Dahlberg recently confirmed on the game’s official forums that space combat is among the features players can look forward to in The Old Republic. Here’s part of Dahlberg’s post:
Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various “hot spots” on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars space battles.
Dahlberg noted that more details will be revealed in the October issue of PC Gamer, which will be on stands starting August 17th.
