A lot of speculation has risen again (after so many of them) on the rumored Starcraft 2 title that Blizzard should have finished before World of Warcraft. First and foremost is the coincidental announcement by an E-sports broadcasting company that “there will be a beta version of Starcraft 2 coming out [at the end] of the year.”

Despite being hounded by claims of “crying wolf” again, the source from the company said that his source was reliable. And it seems that the E-sports company is taking it seriously, with claims to try to counter the attempt by Blizzard to set off a surprise nuke attack on the competitive gaming community.

They are adamant in deciding a course of action to quickly integrate the new RTS title to their events list should it come out just days before the E-sports competition. It’s rumored that Blizzard is planning to “kill” Starcraft just to ensure that Starcraft 2 will be a big hit. The context is iffy, so don’t ask us what it means.

Second is that a source from Hanbitsoft said that the new Starcraft will be introducing another new race, plus two additional units to wreak destruction upon your opponents. The new race is speculated to be Sarah Kerrigan’s current race, and the story is set to continue from where Starcraft: Brood Wars left off. Big surprise is that the 200 unit limit will be trashed. There’s no word on the progenitor Xel’Naga making a cameo anytime soon.

Unfortunately, the translation from the forums of the Korean site that made the claim, Team Liquid, said that the source “had a relationship” with the original Starcraft. What that means, we’re very anxious to tell. But since it draws funny pictures in our minds, we’ll just pass. Let’s just hope Blizzard can shed some light into this rumor for us.
