StarCraft II update: the Protoss Carrier Ship

The latest update from StarCraft II features the Carrier vehicle of the Protoss. The Carrier acts as a moving operations center for leaders of the Protoss fleet. Solidly packed with armor and shields, the vehicle manufactures its own Interceptors that clear its path.

The Interceptors themselves are no laughing matter: like bees, they can be fired out in rapid succession.In fact, the carrier itself acts like a mobile beehive. Mostly, Carriers have no weapons but are heavy on shields. The Interceptors act as the ship’s weapons: like bees, they swarm out and attack persistently until the enemy unit is down.

Some “Super Carriers” exist to have weapons, such as the Gantrithor. The huge Gantrithor is the flagship of Executor Tassadar, who leads the protoss force to eradicate the Zerg forces. The ship once took out an entire Battlecruiser squadron on its own.
