Stranglehold not delayed for PlayStation 3
An air of confusion hit the next-generation gaming community recently, as a press release wired from European public relation constituents of Midway sent the media abuzz on what could be another possible delay for a PlayStation 3 version of another multi-platform game.
The said press release on John Woo‘s Stranglehold (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) lacked a release date for the PlayStation 3 version, but it appears that it was an error in the constituents’ part. Midway has given word that their press release simply lacked the inclusion of the PlayStation 3 version’s release date (September 17, 2007, no less) and was released before it could be corrected.
But if you thought the media buzz died there, it didn’t. It spun itself anew. Recent word also circulated that the European PlayStation 3 version would get delayed instead, suggesting that the press wired release dates were for the American versions only. But the facts are clear: the press release gave the official release dates for the game on both US and European shores, and it will come out on said dates until further notification.
John Woo’s Stranglehold would have been milked as another PS3 delay controversy following Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV. But thanks to Midway’s quick reply and certain elements (namely the fanbase of all sides – even the Xbox fans) in the gaming community who cleared up the issues, this one can finally lay to rest.
It’s funny that there’s a lot of issues running behind Stranglehold lately. We’re hearing whispers of some mix ups in the PC side of the game, too. More on that as we confirm.
