Super Air Zonk heading for Wii VC
If you’re a fan of cute shooters, you’d better read this because we spotted the sub-genre’s grand-daddy on the ESRB site and it’s heading right over to the Nintendo Wii for a Virtual Console cameo. Yup, it’s Super Air Zonk and it’s set to flog for 800 Wii Points, but that’s okay because you’ll be getting tons of fun in return.
Originally released for the PC and the TurboGrafx in 1992, Super Air Zonk was a side-scrolling shoot-em up with quirky protagonists, hot action and some cool power-ups. Hordes of enemies stand in your way, but with a trusty trigger button and some dexterity, you’ll find yourself in a simple but addictive little world.
Okay, so the graphics are as ancient as they come, but don’t let that fool you. What we have here is a true-blue pioneer that was among the best of its day and set the benchmark where others followed. If you’re all for raw, unadulterated fun, watch out for Super Air Zonk and watch the 8-bit sparks fly.
