Super Mario (& Luigi) Galaxy for TWO players?

Quite possibly, the 3D platformer title everyone’s been waiting for might be re-titled as “Super Mario & Luigi Galaxy”. We dunno if we’re seeing double, but Cubed3 was quick to point out that the Wii Software page  in the official Wii site itself has notched Super Mario Galaxy as a “Players: 1-2” game. We’ve taken the liberty to screencap the image below:

Well, the recent GDC hadn’t turn up anything about the upcoming stellar title except for this trailer. Shigeru Miyamoto‘s keynote didn’t reveal anything about this 2-player thing either. In any case, this bit of info from the website could just be a typo (maybe they use templates for their pages and just forgot to change certain details).

However, the prospect of being able to play Super Mario Galaxy with someone else is definitely appealing. If support for two players turns out to be true, that would make this title the first 3D Mario platformer to include this feature. While previous other Mario games – the side-scrollers from ages past – have second player Luigi helping his brother save Princess Peach, this would put Super Mario Galaxy intergalactically above the rest.
