Super Paper Mario Tutorial from the GDC
The game Super Paper Mario by Nintendo is one of the most highly-anticipated releases for the Wii. The premise of the game is simple: Princess Peach is being forced to marry Bowser by Count Bleck. According to the book called the “Dark Prognosticus,” this marriage will open a dimensional rift that will destroy the universe.
Mario is transported to the town of Flipside, where a book called the “Light Prognosticus” tells us that a hero matching Mario’s description will close the rift. However, Mario must find the eight Pure Hearts to do so.
So how will the game play? Well, it plays like the older iterations of Paper Mario but words won’t do it justice. Watch the video and you can see how it plays. If you choose not to watch the video here’s the skinny: Characters are controlled using the Wii Remote like an NES controller. Each character has special moves such as Mario’s ability to turn the screen around 90 degrees. This should dramatically differentiate itself from other sidescrollers.
The game is slated for release on April 9, 2007.
