Super Smash Bros. Brawl Update – Mario’s F.L.U.D.D. Special Move

It’s Brawl update time once more and yes, it’s about the world-famous plumber and the moves he’ll be bringing to the table come the game’s highly-anticipated December 3 release date. Specifically, it’s about his Down Special Move, and it’s a blast from the awesome past as far as GameCube owners are concerned: the F.L.U.D.D. system, straight out of Super Mario Sunshine!

So what does the Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device do? Like in Sunshine, it spits out strong jets of water – and in a combat situation like Brawl, nothing says “I own you” than a direct blast of water to the face. Okay, there are other ways to say it better, but this is the F.L.U.D.D. system we’re talking about.

Before you ask, though, it hardly does any damage. In fact, it doesn’t deal any damage at all. What it does do is send enemies clear across stages if you charge the special move long enough ( a feat you can also do while shielding). It may not seem much, but there’s quite a bit of satisfaction in blasting your opponent out of the level and into oblivion with a veritable hosing. Ha!

And for those of you worried about Mario’s original Down Special Move, the Mario Tornado, don’t fret – he still has it, but as a normal move. Which means you’ll have to rethink the strategies you made with him in Melee – and that’s not a bad thing, considering that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is indeed a whole new ball game.

Updates about Nintendo‘s highly-anticipated beat-em-up as we get them!
