Suspected rapist caught at Best Buy, campers watch

William Rick Burdine, Sr.Lexington, Kentucky is starting to look like one of those places that can’t even fall under the “Nice places to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live here” category. There’s another bit of criminal weirdness that occurred in Lexington recently. Luckily, instead of PS3 campers being the target of said weirdness, they just happened to be there long enough to watch.

Unlike the BB gun drive-by that happened earlier in the week, this one has to do with a suspected rapist escaping police. The suspect, identified as William Rick Burdine, Sr., was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday night. However, he evaded the corrections officer who was supposed to take him in. His escape was short-lived, however, as he was spotted at the Lexington Best Buy store the noon after his escape and captured by police.

His capture, of course, sparked quite a bit of interest among the people waiting to get one of Sony‘s consoles, not knowing why Burdine was being hauled off by police. “I thought it was for the PlayStation,” said one of the people in line. It would be very uncomfortable for a lot of those folks waiting for the PS3 if the suspected rapist was actually in line, but Burdine was stopped at Best Buy’s loading dock, away from the multitude of campers.

It would have made for an interesting headline if he was caught because he was waiting in line though, but a suspect captured is always a good thing.
