SylphAMP v0.02 Released

sylphamp

SylphAMP by Ficedula is a Winamp-to-NDS interface that really adds another o to “cool”. It installs WinAmp as an output plugin so audio is streamed to a DS on the local network rather than to the speakers.  It has been upgraded to v0.02 and features the following changes:

  • Improved sync a bit
  • Lowered lag between PC/DS
  • Less garbage playing when pausing/stopping song
  • Display playlist on DS
  • Very basic UI
  • Support entering any IP as server to connect to

To use:

  • Put the plugin (OUT_SylphAmp.dll) into your WinAmp plugins folder.
  • Start WinAmp and choose SylphAMP as the output plugin. YOU SHOULD DO THIS BEFORE BOOTING THE DS.
  • Boot the NDS in any way you like.
  • Wait for it to autoconnect to your AP. Hopefully.
  • The program will prompt you for the IP of your PC. It had better be on the same
  • subnet as the DS or you’re stuffed.
  • The DS will now attempt to contact the PC.

This is an early alpha-style release and Ficedula says it could produce “possibly the most horrific UI in existence. And it isn’t very functional either.” But for streaming MP3s and so on from WinAmp to your Nintendo DS it works “most of the time.” For more info, check the readme file.
