T3 Awards: PS3 wins Gadget of the Year, Xbox 360 as Best Gaming Gadget, Wii wins for unisex appeal

Sony Ps3 - Image 1The prestigious T3 Gadget Awards have come and gone, and the results are already in. Not surprisingly, the three current next-gen consoles – Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii – managed to net awards. Apple’s iPod was also hailed as the Best Gadget of All Time, and who would disagree?

Nintendo Wii was voted as the gadget that’s One For the Ladies, what with its true universal appeal. The T3 Gadget Awards hails the Wii as the first gaming device with real unisex appeal, and we couldn’t quite agree more.

As for gaming, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was awarded the Best Gaming Gadget title, with its top-notch titles (yes, we’re also looking at Halo 3), cheap HD-DVD drive as well as it’s “incredible shrinking price”, making it a very accessible next-gen console with great games to boot.

However, here’s the quite surprising part: the PS3, despite being a runner up in the Best Gaming Gadget Award, managed to win the Gadget of the Year 2007. The reason? It’s not really all about gaming – the PS3 also packs in a good Blu-ray player in its innards. T3 also cites the PS3’s ability to synchronize with the PSP and its TV tuner add-on.
