Tabula Rasa Screenshot of the Week: Mech Wars

Tabula Rasa screenshot of the week - Image 1

When the going gets tough, the tough goes inside a big mech and starts blowing stuff up. This little nugget of wisdom is captured and illustrated in all its poetic glory with this week’s screenshot of Tabula Rasa. The Bane’s monstrous Thrax strider can make all the Godzilla noises it wants – the good guys are packing major heat, and they’re not giving up without a fight, or after some major collateral damage.

Image dissection time! The graphics here are top-notch, as in keeping with the past screenshots of NCSoft‘s latest MMORPG masterpiece. What’s most striking, however, is the contrast between the AFS Mechanized Unit and the Thrax Strider, in terms of what each is made of (as well as which side they’re on).

The AFS Mechanized Unit definitely has a more “mech” look to it, with its hard angles and sharp profile. The Bane’s Thrax Strider, on the other hand, has more of a biological theme, with sloping curves and what appears to be living carapace for armor.

It’s so that we’re not even sure if a Thrax strider is in fact an actual monster or merely a twisted version of what one would be like at the hands of the Bane – that is, if its official description in the site is anything to go by.

Big mechs with big guns. The awesome never stops with Tabula Rasa. Enjoy the screenshot!
