Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron to eventually stop Xbox 360 production

Taiwan based manufacturer Wistron will most likely lessen the production of Microsoft‘s Xbox 360 come 2008, until it eventually totally ceases to run production of the next-gen console. This was the report from the Economic Daily News, a Chinese-language newspaper.

Cited as reasons of the said stoppage of Xbox 360 manufacturing was the declining profits on production of the consoles, as well as the reported addition of Celistica to Microsoft’s list of suppliers. While it would be deemed as a big blow to Wistron to stop manufacturing the next-gen, numbers would dictate otherwise, since the Xbox 360’s production accounts for about ten percent of the company’s revenues.

According to Economic Daily News, Wistron “is expected to record revenues of NT$ 280 billion (US$ 8.5 billion) in 2007, with a new EPS (earnings per share) of NT$ 5.45.”
