Apart from adding new characters and classes, Namco Bandai has also seen fit to give Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2‘s battle system a bit of an overhaul.
Players now have more control over their companions thanks to the addition of Tales of Innocence‘s Infinity Jam system, which lets players freely switch between characters for a better chance of connecting during consecutive attacks. The system works during Overlimit too.
There are also more detailed instructions for your party members during battles, again similar to the ones used in Tales of Innocence. This, in particular, is a very welcome addition. Radiant Mythology 2 will have 7 basic commands and 40 priority commands.
There’s also a new Slot System that adds three slots to your Artes Shortcut setup. The web translation was a bit hazy, but it looks like this should give players a total of twelve possible Artes shortcuts and the ability to quickly switch between them.
The Arena has also been given an upgrade. Players can now face multiple bosses in a single match.
All in all, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 is definitely shaping up to be a worthy of a purchase, especially for fans of the Tales of series. It’s currently slated for a January 29 release in Japan, so if it ever makes it to North America (make it so, Namco Bandai!), we’ll probably see it around Summer 2009. Well, hopefully.
