Talking ‘Bout a Revolution: Odd Alhgren on Just Cause
So here’s the plot: The main character, the suave Rico Rodriguez, is a secret agent who works for the Agency, a top-secret organization. Sent on a mission to the island of San Esperito, he is tasked to make a “surgical intervention” and take out the ‘Presidente’, who happens to keep weapons of mass destruction.
We’re talking about Just Cause, an action game for Xbox, Xbox 360, PC and PS2. According to Odd Alhgren, Content Director of Avalanche Studios (the makers of the game), Just Cause‘s protagonist is influenced by James Bond, Mad Max, El Mariachi, Wolverine, Punisher, Rambo, Tony Montana, Jack Bauer, Han Solo and Vincent Vega. And it seems that Rodriguez is in for quite a bit of adventure as Ahlgren says he’s going to start a revolution, “hitch rides with different vehicles using his grappling hook and his ‘chute to paraglide across the island, jump out onto the wing of a moving airplane and hijack other planes midair and even jump between cars to hijack them”.
Moreover, Ahlgren promises that you could travel from one side of the map to the other without seeing a loading screen, and hints at other surprises he didn’t want to spoil. But he did say that it’s going to be released this September. So if you’re in need of an adrenaline-pumping-action game with a James Bond twist, maybe you’d want to try Just Cause out.
