Team Ninja: no Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the Xbox 360

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

IGN reports that a Famitsu interview with Team Ninja‘s Tomonobu Itagaki reveals that despite the many requests, they have no plans of porting over Ninja Gaiden Sigma to Microsoft‘s Xbox 360.

It must be noted that Ninja Gaiden Sigma is mostly a remake of Ninja Gaiden Black for the original Xbox. Sigma contains additional stages, weapons, and even has a new playable character in the form of Rachel.

The reasoning behind the lack of a Xbox 360 port/version is that Sigma was supposedly created to bring the Ninja Gaiden experience to players who’ve only had Sony PlayStation consoles. In order to not disappoint the large Xbox fan-base, Itagaki does reassure that they will continue supporting the Xbox 360 platform, and that they still have plans for it. He expounds:

We’re taking new challenges on the Nintendo DS, and the same is true for the Xbox 360. In order to respond to our fans’ expectations, we’re always making sequels and new games.

This means that Xbox 360 owners eager to get more stuff from Team Ninja need not have to get a PS3, they just have to wait. Ninja Gaiden Sigma should be out for the PS3 by July.
