Team Trials: PvP training on your own

The Boon Prot PvP TemplateSo you wanna try your hand at some PvP action, huh? That’s easy. Just  go look for someone to fight with. Yeah, chances are you’ll get a pretty thorough beating on your first outing, but you’ll get the hang of it soon enough. Practice makes perfect and in Guild Wars PvP, where your whole team will have to rely on each other, it’s even more so.

But what if you don’t have people to practice with? What’s a lonely PvPer-to-be going to do? Well, worry not because Team Trials is here to the rescue.

The Team Trials give players a controlled environment where they can freely hone their PvP skills without fear of biting off more than they could possibly chew. In the Team Trials, the AI controls your teammates and your opponents, giving you a demonstration of the various victory conditions for basic arena combat. Additionally, you can get Balthazar’s faction through the Team Trials, a little something that you will need to unlock skills and items for PvP-only characters.

The Team Trials consist of 4v4 combat. If you enter by your lonesome, you get to group up with three AI-controlled henchmen and fight alongside them against a team of four AI-controlled opponents. You also have the option of joining up with three other players and group with them. In the Trials, there are four basic arena types:

Annihilation: Destroy the enemy team.
Obelisk Annihilation: Destroy the enemy team and capture an obelisk for extra damage.
Priest Annihilation: Destroy the enemy team as well as a priest.
Kill Count: Secure the most kills in a given amount of time.

If you’re not confident in your PvP skills or if this is your first time in a PvP environment, there’s no need to worry because even if you lose any of the matches you can just repeat the Trial you failed by talking to the Master of Paths. The Master of Paths will also be standing nearby while you fight, giving you tips and guiding you through the nuances of PvP combat.
