The Xbox 360 may have its issues, but that just means there’s room for improvement. And according to Katsuhiro Harada, the console will benefit from the development of Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, which pushes the console’s power to its limits.

Harada, the game’s executive producer, says that it was a challenge to make the game for the Xbox 360 at 60 fps because it was developed based on the PlayStation 3’s architecture. He says:

It is a challenge to fit this game onto one DVD and to make sure the data is read at a fast rate.

It is essential to utilize the 360Â’s functions and strengths to the fullest in order to accomplish the same goal. I believe that the data and experience gained during development may affect development of the next iteration of the console.

Tekken 6Â’s graphics engine was developed for a high frame rate to create fluid motion rather than focusing purely on extravagant still shots. […] These games show a new level of smooth and dynamic movement. This technology has proved very difficult to realise with fighting games running at 60fps.

I’ll say it before any of you so we can get it over with. “So Tekken 6 is just pushing the Xbox 360 to match the already existing tech of the PlayStation 3?” Avoid this line of discussion please, we’ve all heard it before. How about talking about the possibilities of the Xbox 360’s evolution as a console in its own right, or something along those lines.
