Tetris and Touch : Touchy Feely Goodness for Nintendo DS
Tetris, classic gaming defines itself in a number of ways but always coming back to the roots. Games such as Pong, Super Mario Brothers, and River Raid always stop current gamers in their tracks as they walk through the mall or get caught at their friends house on a friday night and its the retro nature of these games that brings us coming back. Bringing out the kid in us once again. Tetris for example, has been made on almost every single platform that a game can be made on, Nintendo, PC, iPod, as well as homebrew on every system, and the more it seems that a system cannot be defined as a gaming system unless Tetris has adorned its playing surface.
This game is exactly that, another rendition of tetris but the design is quite nice and a few elements of the game have been changed. Tetris& Touch is a Tetris clone with a few new styles. The cubes fall seamlessly (“step-less”) and the graphics are in nice 3D renders. You are able to use the touchscreen or buttons to control the falling tetramines. However secretive the art of “rolling” a cube is, in Tetris&Touch the cubes actually do rotate.
The author, Payk, states that all 7 tetramines are in the game but the emulator either didn’t know random numbers or it doesn’t support timer interrupts. There also are a few bugs and the music is made by his brother so “if you dont like it, I can’t help you” A good sense of humor and a good game keeps this DS gamer busy. Try and Tetris&Touch since its more fun to touch and try things then it is to look.
