Texas Hold ’em To Be Free on Xbox Live Arcade for First 48 Hours
Well Microsoft is giving gamers what they promised in the form of Texas Hold ’em, the Xbox Live Arcade title, for free…for the first 48 hours that is. This full-featured poker title for XBLA will launch on Wednesday, August 23, at 0800 GMT (1:00 A.M. Pacific Time)and the promotion will go through until 0800 GMT (1:00 A.M. Pacific Time) Friday, August 25, during that time period, all Xbox Live Gold and Silver members can download the game at no charge. But once the time limit is up, Texas Hold ’em will be available for the hefty amount of 800 Microsoft Points.
One of the main features in the game that many have been wondering about was how will the risk/reward of real poker gameplay translate over to the arcade title? To keep gamers honest, and discourage opponents from betting too recklessly, Texas Hold ’em has an innovative new feature called “Persistent Bankroll”. In this feature, your virtual bankroll is tied to your gamertag and keeps a running tally of your chip count. If you lose all of your chips in a poker game, you’ll have to play lower stakes buy-in games to make back your stack and earn your way to the big tables. This is great news for those that were hoping every hand would not turn into a “all in” hand.
So if you’ve been waiting for this game or just wanted to get a “free” Xbox Live Arcade title be sure to mark your calenders for August 23rd and save yourself 800 Microsoft Points.
