TGS 06: Zoids DS Preview

DS TGS

This must be the most dangerous Rock-Paper-Scissors game ever created. Instead of just paper enveloping your rock, your Zoid robot gets smashed up by missiles and lasers. This is how the new game from Tomy Corporation, Zoids DS, will be played. We’ve got the scoop from IGN regarding some gameplay and more.

It was mentioned that the game was fun to play with. Although, it seems elementary, the gameplay gets a big boost up from two sources: the touchscreen usage and card additions. The stylus will get in on the action after the player wins. The winning gamer will have the option of changing moves, either by winding wheels or tapping the button on a target. The cards is still a bit of a mystery to most. Will the cards increase damage or decrease received ones? Will it allow different options to the game? Will this be the same as other card games like SNK vs. CAPCOM Card Fighters DS? As of the moment we are as in dark about these.

The 3D animation is unusually attractive. The smoke fire, and skidding were well done. For a turn-based game, it sure had enough good graphics that makes one want to play it over and over again. Unfortunately, it’s still in development  and so far, it is 70% done. However in the future, it looks like it’s going to have a stateside version. So while we wait for its release date, you can practice your Roshambo (rock, paper, scissors) at home.
