TGS 2007: Details on PlayStation Home Dress expansion

TGS: Details about PlayStation Home's Dress expansion - Image 1PlayStation Home hasn’t been released yet, but there’s already an expansion in the works: introducing Dress, the PlayStation Home expansion that lets your avatars dress up with branded clothing.

Surprisingly, the idea of this expansion came about from PlayStation 2’s Tourist Trophy motorcycle simulation game, where players can dress up their characters in branded biking duds. With this in mind, its not so surprising that Tourist Trophy director Takamasa Shichisawa introduced the Dress PlayStation Home service at the Tokyo Game Show event.

The avatars in dress are separate from those the home avatars, however. They only exist in the four Dress rooms in the PlayStation Home world: Dress Town, Dress Studio, Dress Museum, and Dress Park.

Dress Town lets the Dress avatars move in simulated shops, or malls, as if they’re actually browsing for clothes in a real shop. Dress Studio lets PlayStation Home users adjust their dress according to their preference, and even create their own brands.

Dress Park is where Dress avatars can interact with each other and swap items and clothing, and Sony will also conduct official events and fashion shows in this room. Finally, Dress Museum will showcase clothing history, as well as replay famous movie scenes that feature notable fashion.

Whew! That’s a lot for a single expansion of something that’s not released yet. Do check back for more updates, however. There’s more to come!
