TGS 2007: New WipEout HD info and screenshots

 

It’s been a while since we last heard about Sony Computer Entertainment Europe‘s (SCEE) WipEout HD, the next-gen iteration about the most intense futuristic racer of all time. Now, we get not only delicious new eye candy of it, but also more details that should get us through until the next update. So, without further ado, here are the new details unveiled about WipEout HD:

• Full SIXAXIS support
• Tracks to consist of most popular tracks from previous games
• Mag-Strips: From WipEout Pulse, this little feature temporarily locks your ship onto the track.
• Seven Race Modes: Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap, Zone Mode, Elimination and Head-2-Head.
• Race Campaign: A set of pre-determined racing events for the player to go through.
• New Weapons: The Repulser, Shuriken and Leach Beam.
• Photo Mode: Take in-game screenshots.
• Online Multiplayer: Up to 8 players online, along with Team versus Team mode.
• Community: A website built for player profiles, stats and bragging rights.
• Downloadable Content: game expansions, downloadable through PSN.

Hefty list, and very good news for those of us hankering for WipEout‘s unique racing look and feel. We have to love the fact that the tracks we’ll be zooming through will be the popular ones from the bunch, as well as the bit about downloadable content. New cars, new weapons, maybe even new tracks? Say it is so, Sony!
