TGS trailer and screens for Bladestorm: Hundred Years War

Ah, Koei. Even with your firm hold on the epic-battle and strategy arenas of gaming, you still manage to add something new to your games.

On its 30th Anniversary, Koei’s set out to combine some aspects of their two famous brands of war games and place them halfway across the world. Bladestorm: Hundred Years War is the name of the game, and it places you in Europe during the Hundred Years War between the British and the French. The game itself combines some aspects of the well-known Dynasty  Warriors franchise and places it in the gameplay style of their other war sim Kessen, which acts like an in-your-face real-time strategy game.

Not a lot of details have come out yet, but you can definitely expect something from Koei: that the game will feature large-scale warfare, and that a lot of people will die bloodlessly on the virtual battlefield. Expect Bladestorm to come out mid-November, amidst a throng of Japanese gamers who’ve just begun to grab themselves a PlayStation 3.
