The $199 PSP May Contain New 2.61 Firmware
We have been hearing a few rumors that the newly released PSP system for $199 might be coming with something more then a lower price tag. It has come to our attention that there could possibly be a 2.61 update on the newer PSP’s that are being purchased today. You can check the comment posted in our earlier article about the PSP’s price drop. We are waiting to hear if more confirmations that are sure to come streaming in but for now it would be good to at least be cautious and note when going out to purchase a new PSP it might be incompatible with homebrew since the user who bought the new unit said that the GTA ELoader did not work with it.

I just got back from target. I bought one of these. Its got a new firmware on it 2.61. GTA eloader doesn’t work for it :(. No homebrew on this one I guess. |

Update: Since there seems to be some extreme confusion, the picture associated with this post is intended for and illustration purposes only and is not an actual picture of the rumored update. This post is about a rumored update, as with all rumors, they may or may not be true.Since Sony has stealthily updated firmware revisions on their web servers without notice before to fix homebrew exploits, its good to be cautious. Many new revisions are planned for the PSP, and soon we will divulge much more.
