The Beat Testing: a behind-the-scenes glance at Project Lupara

The Red Barrels staff is incredibly excited to get more into Project Lupara, our very first seasonal upgrade. The Outlast Trials is a collaborative Game experience for newcomers where up to four players, collectively known as Reagents, take part in tests that push their psyches the limit. Our imminent ( and free ) update, Project Lupara ‘ packs a major wallop, including a brand-new story trial ( it’s gross ), a brand-new map ( even grosser ), and a brand-new Rig. On top of all that, we’re pleased to offer what all our Chemicals have been wearily waiting for: The sniffling, whining, savage Franco ‘ Il Bambino ‘ Barbi. Franco, the first of his kind, uses his favorite Lupara, a sawed-off gun that extends beyond the most recent Outlast villains.

Franco, the perverse brother of New Orleans gang don Salvatore Barbi, is driven by savage rights, greed, and psychosexual violence. He is a freakish “big girl” obsessed with his Pacifier, the infamous growth stick he suckles on when he’s not using it to blow some poor innocent Chemical to smithereens ( including all that fun gore and viscera you’ve come to expect from us ). With a face perhaps his mother could n’t love, people will be introduced to Franco in the fresh account Test, Poison the Medicine, which will carry Chemicals to The Port, a brand-new image, and Barbi’s home ground.
Can’t get enough Barbi? The excellent Murkoff staff have taken it upon themselves to transport Franco around the other Bambino special event trials in the four weeks following the update’s release. Mother Gooseberry and Sergeant Coyle have made the commitment to play nice, but if you were me, I would keep my distance.
A new game mode called Escalation Therapy, which will be available alongside this update, will allow hardcore Reagents to participate in a seemingly never-ending experience that will pit them against a number of randomized trials, with randomized variations, and randomized upgrades. No two games will be the same, but they will make you scurry your eyes until you ask for mercy. And just when you think it’s over, the cycle begins anew. Start with nothing, survive as long as you can, and reap your rewards.
As if that were n’t enough, Easterman has authorized the addition of another amusement to the Sleep Room. Reagents will be able to take on each other in the Stroop Test, along with arm wrestling and chess. A hastily choosing between disparate colored words is a classic challenge in the Stroop Test. Although it sounds simple, this mind-teasing test quickly turns into a classic Outlast head trip. Who claimed that Murkoff never exchanged goodwill for its Reagents?

We’ve heard our Reagents ‘ painful moans coming from the triple-reinforced glass, so we took the time to revamp our menus. Find a variety of player rewards and disgusting cosmetics in the new Catalogs. Expect Trial Boards to periodically update, allowing Reagents to return to their favorite Trials with a twist or two. Speaking of Trials, this update will also include a wider range of difficulty settings, starting from Introductory going all the way to Psychosurgery. Additionally, Murkoff will have the ability to assign them with particular attention special objectives to tackle as they go through their Trials using the new Tasks system. Alone or together, the chances to reap more rewards have never been more bountiful.
Reagents can also access the new Barricade Rig, last but not least. Use it to troll your friends or to block the path behind you. People will have to slog through or turn the long way to catch up. The Barricade comes with its own set of upgrades, like the other Rigs, that can be unlocked in order to increase Reagents ‘ strength even more in the event of need. You ca n’t stop yourself.
For those looking for that immediate staycation, The Exotica Pack will include exclusive outfits and Cell decoration items that are sure to warm even the frailest, beaten-down Reagent. The Exotica Pack, which retails for$ 19.99, contains a wealth of brand-new cosmetics.
We are eager to see what Project Lupara has been up for you thanks to Murkoff. The expansion of Sinyala Facilities is just beginning. In the not-so-distant future, our devoted Reagents will have many more surprises to look forward to. What are you waiting for, then? Begin your rebirth today, but in the meantime, enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at how we come up with this filth.
