Spellborn NV's The Chronicles of Spellborn - Image 1Banshee, the English Community Manager for Spellborn NV‘s The Chronicles of Spellborn has posted a new dev diary update for the game explaining the mechanics on how the game’s team of QA (quality assurance) testers go through one of most important aspects of the game: combat.

Banshee explained that one of the most important requirements for the QA team is a rather extensive background on how the game’s mechanics work. This helps the transition from sending any new changes from the developers to the QA team, as well as give proper feedback on how the new combat tests went.

The first part of any test is the basic skill functionality, where the QA team goes through all the different skills and how they apply to any of the new combat mechanics developed. Since they had to check around 200 skills against the different classes and instances, it took the team about 5 days to complete compiling and shooting over 100 bugs during the testing.

After the skills, the testers then take a look at the different bodyslot functionalities. This is compared with the different classes once again, with tests for cheats or exploits considered for any that may occur during gameplay.

The devs definitely seem to have their hands full with just the first two phases of their combat testing exercise. Fortunately, out of the one hundred-some bugs noted, around half of that were addressed already. Banshee notes that the next phase, Combos, will be worked into the next dev diary update and he invites everyone to stay tuned for his next entry about it.
