The Darkness is a best-selling comic book series from Top Cow Productions and is being made by award-winning developer Starbreeze Studios into hopefully a very successful crossover to the next-gen console. It is slated to come out in Winter of 2007.

The stunning imagery of The Darkness is a director’s dream. Can you just imagine if this will be directed by Tim Burton? In December 2004, Platinum Studios and Dimension Films paid an undisclosed six-figure sum to develop a possible movie based on the comic, planned for release in 2007.

Those not yet familiar with the comic book series, it features mafia hitman Jackie Estacado that becomes possessed by “The Darkness” on the night of her 21st birthday. This ancient demonic entity gave Jackie special and dangerous powers.

And now artworks from a supposed employee working on The Darkness have surfaced online. Specifying that majority of it came from the beginning of the project and that they do not represent its finality.
