The Darkness : More Content for the PS3

The DarknessThe Darkness by developer Starbreeze AB is still set to come out early 2007. We’re all eagerly awaiting the comic book-inspired game, so to help tide us all over, here’s something we found.

During an interview, lead designer Jens Anderson had several things to say about the PS3 and the Xbox 360. According to Anderson, while the 360 has the lead on the user base, he thinks that by the end of it, the user base will be bigger on the PlayStation3. He adds that he also thinks that by early next year, the 360 will still have a “a pretty good slot coming out.”

Later on he mentions that he’s not quite sure how they will scale the game to 1080p for the PS3. It’s more likely that they’ll just release the game in the same resolution for both 360 and the PS3. A consistent feel performance- and presentation-wise across platforms is what they intend anyway.

What’s really interesting is that he says that they have plans of taking advantage of Sony‘s Blu-Ray. According to Anderson, it will just probably be extra content, because of the extra space available.

Though Starbreeze doesn’t intend the gaming experience to be significantly different on the PS3, the added content will probably be a big bonus for Sony fans. Extra stages perhaps? Bonus unlockables? Time will tell.
