The Game Creators and NVIDIA launch competition for budding developers

Nvidia Game Development competition

QJ’s Games for Windows blog is still in it’s infancy, and what better way to celebrate the launch of our new blog designed specifically for PC gamers than to inform you of a great competition? If you’re looking at earning quick bucks by simply answering a question, then you’re out of luck. If you have gaming talent, though, and would love to win a complete gaming PC system and a publishing deal, then this competition is for you.

The competition – brainchild of The Game Creators and NVIDIA – sees you (the developer) creating a game using the FPS Creator and DarkBASIC Professional applications. Entrants must create a one-level first person shooter in FPS Creator or let their imagination run wild in DarkBASIC Professional, with games being judged on a number of criteria (graphics, gameplay, sound and a whole lotta more).

The FPS Creator winner will receive a a top-spec PC and a publishing deal with Mastertronic (who will also be funding the development of the entry into a 15-level game). Four runners-up will also win great NVIDIA hardware prizes: second and third places will get NVIDIA SLI goodies; while two DarkBASIC Professional winners will receive a complete PC system. In addition, NVIDIA will host the best entries on their website for visitors to play.

The Game Creator’s applications have been made in order to get more gamers interested in developing. It requires no skills apart from the imagination. If you don’t have FPS Creator or DarkBASIC Professional then you can download them by clicking here and here.

The closing dates for the competition are as follows: FPS Creator games on January 16, 2007 and February 16, 2007 for DarkBASIC Professional games.
