The first gameplay footage from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan‘s The Last Guy has finally been released to the game-hungry PS3 public. Along with the trailer comes some info on just what the game’s all about.

The Last Guy takes place in a zombie-infested Japanese town. The goal is to find and lead civilians to an Escape Zone without letting them become food for the walking dead. Players can make use of thermal imaging to find survivors, and getting V.I.P.s into the Escape Zone translate to more points for you.

This PlayStation Network title utilizes high-res images from Google Earth for its top-down gameplay. Check it out (along with the strangely catchy backing track) in the video below. The quality’s not that great, but the game itself does look worthy of a run or two. The Last Guy is currently slated to hit Japan on July 31.
