The Legend of Spyro DS: Hot off the shelves
Vivendi Games‘ Sierra Entertainment division just announced yesterday that The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning is now available in retail stores across the country.
This installment’s a prequel to the rest of the Spyro game series, and will be dealing with our favorite purple fire-breathing reptile’s beginnings (NO! Not Barney, you sickos!), how he came to meet Sparx, his trusty dragonfly companion (and lifebar), and his encounters with Cynder the Black Dragon – the main antagonist of this game.
New to this game is the idea of physical combat and combos – a step forward from the headbutt-and-torch-the-boss-silly fare fans have seen in the past Spyro games, and a new dragon upgrade system, giving the player more control over how they want to customize Spyro’s attacks and powers.
Perhaps the newest feature to this game is the all-star voice acting lineup: LOTR‘s Elijah Woods will be voicing Spyro the Dragon, comedian David Spade will be voicing Sparx the Dragonfly, and Harry Potter‘s Gary Oldman will be voicing Ignitus the Fire Dragon Elder – Spyro’s mentor.
The game’s currently out for the Playstation 2, the Xbox (with Xbox 360 backwards compatibility), and the the GameCube for a retail price of $39.99 at an ESRB rating of E10+; it’s available for the GBA and DS for a retail price of $29.99, at an ESRB rating of E.
