The New Firefly Lights Up Your Camping Trip
When you go out for camping, lighting is just as important as the tent that you’ll be sleeping in. And with all the equipment that you’re supposed to bring, to make sure that you’re fit to survive the night out in the woods, everything has to be compact and easy to carry.
Eric Goldfarb understood all these concerns, thus resulting into his invention, the Guyot Design‘s Firefly. The Firefly, similar to those cute little insects that seem to be the blueprint for Tinkerbell’s character, can be considered as a night light, trail light, and lantern rolled into one package.
It is basically a lid with a built-in LED that fits most bottle, and its top contains a nylon tether that is perfect for hanging it from your tent. It also has three grips that let you stand it up, thereby transforming it into a table-top lantern.
Turning on the Firefly is also easy. You simply have to press and release the small orange button at the top for power. That same button is also what you’ll press and hold to activate different levels of light. Once you’ve reached your desired light level, you simply release the button. To turn it off, again simply press and release the orange button once.
It fits most bottles, but nonetheless, it’s good to consult with your specific bottle manufacturer’s recommendations. As to the capacity of the Firefly to stand hot liquids poured in the bottle, it’s allegedly able to withstand hot temperature. According to a company representative, “…The liquid temp shouldn’t affect light level…I’ve also heard of people having fun with different things – like iced tea with ice cubes or clear water with lemon slices for a cool, lava lamp effect. Experimenting is half the fun.”
Three AAA batteries are required for this little gadget wonder, and it’s available for only $21.95.
