The Power of Speech

Searching for information on the internet is going to become so much easier than typing a million different words to find what you are looking for. Google is developing a voice based search that will only require you to speak a combination of words to create a search. On April 11,2006, Google issued a patent (patent #7,027,987) that covers a voice interface for a search engine.

Google also is planning on improving the recognition of vocabulary, limiting the number of steps to create a search currently experienced by other voice based providers, such as 411. They also hope that the voice based search will be much like their text based search in that it will provide the closest and most relevant results with as little prompting as possible.
