The Prince of Persia Classic on its way to XBLA
For those who loved the Prince – of Persia (and not the one formerly known as someone else), this is good news for you. Ubisoft has just announced that the 1989 classic will be ported to Xbox Live Arcade.
The rumors turned out to be true, though instead of just being ported into next-gen, Prince of Persia Classic will also get a make-over. Don’t worry, it’s basically still the same platformer we know and love. The remake will sport the same puzzle solving mixed with action adventure gameplay and the same storyline. It received an overhaul in character designs, animations, lighting, and visuals. Prince of Persia Classic was also given new character baddies, puzzles, and traps.
Remember the story? The evil Vizier seizes the throne and gives the Princess one hour to decide whether to marry him or not (the Vizier won’t take no for an answer of course). The Prince has to save her before the time expires. We’re not really sure whether the remake will have the real time rule like the classic where you just had 60 minutes to finish the game. But for those who are old enough to remember, take note of that magic mirror in the trailer. The soul tearing part is just cooler with the overhauled graphics.
The Prince of Persia Classic from Gameloft and Ubisoft will be going live on XBLA (and probably your Xbox 360s as well) early summer. You can check out the screenshots and the trailer for a sneak peek.
