The PSP FW 5.50 roadblock: can’t be decrypted yet, TIFF incompatibility, standby bug

FW updateAlright. So the latest official firmware for the PSP was released the other day, and most probably, some of you are waiting for Dark AleX to give us some feedback before we update our PSP units.

So, Bob, what’s the damage? Is PSP FW 5.50 hackable?

Alright. So the latest official firmware for the PSP was released the other day, and most probably, some of you are waiting for Dark AleX to give us some feedback before we update our PSP units.

So, Bob, what’s the damage? Is it hackable?

Though not coming from DAX himself, Alek mentions that PSP OFW 5.50 came with it some tweaks which were not unexpected. Reports have been trickling in: there’s the TIFF exploit, which now shows up as an incompatible file, and the strange bug with standby/suspend mode (note that this bug isn’t universal). In Alek’s words:

As we saw yesterday, this new ofw has been finally released, with those subfolders and some fixes that were expected, to be honest.

Between those fixes itÂ’s the recent TIFF exploit that was found and that itÂ’s still under development, and it seems that there are also some bugs, like one that literally f***s the standby.

What do you think about those “new features”? Have you got any bugs like those or can confirm the standby one?

Edit: Seems like this new update has the encryption tables changed (at least the 1g one), as it canÂ’t be decrypted with latest psardumper. Anyway, wonÂ’t be probably a problem.

Posted by marcoshummel in the Dark AleX forums, these vids show issues found with the TIFF and standby mode on PSP FW 5.50. Again, the standby bug isn’t universally confirmed for all kinds of PSP units. Some users have reported that their suspending their PSP works fine:
