The road goes ever on and on: LOTRO screens
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can…
And Bilbo’s song still rings true, not only for Tolkien fans everywhere, but even for the MMORPG offspring of this classic piece of literature. Having come a long way from the days when there were but rumors of such a project going on, Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is now in its Beta phase and is already expected to be fully-operational by Spring of 2007.
In this latest sneak peak that we have into this MMORPG, we’re treated to a whole set of images which feature trolls, troll-battles, various images of The Shire, a gathering which includes what seems to be a Rohan shield-maiden, Orcs, and of course, the dreaded Nazgul.
So will this offering by Codemasters, Midway Games and Turbine Inc. win over the hearts of even the most discerning Tolkien enthusiast? Well, hopefully, these screenshots will give them a nudge in the right direction.
…Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
More screenshots after the jump!
