CD Projekt has followed up yesterday’s release of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings‘ debut trailer with a formal announcement. They also talked a bit about the improvements they’ve made on the game’s battle system.
Witcher 2‘s combat system is said to be “even smoother and guarantees a greater variety of tactical possibilities.” Thanks to completely new tech designed for the sequel from the ground up, players can expect to see a lot of very pretty things as they go through the game’s non-linear plot.
“We learned a lot during The Witcher‘s development process, and we are using all of that knowledge to ensure the sequel is one of the best RPGs people have ever played,” said Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt RED. “We’ve concentrated on improving the most successful parts of the Witcher, and I strongly believe that The Witcher 2 will be loved both by fans of the original and newcomers.
“We know that we aimed very high while producing The Witcher 1. Now we are aiming even higher with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.”
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is currently tracking a Q1 2011 release. It will be presented to the public for the first time during the CD Projekt Spring 2010 conference on March 25th. Those interested can check out a live stream of the event here.
