The Witcher - Image 6

Genre:
Action oriented, single player RPG

Developer: CD Projekt

Storyline: The character “Witcher” is a warrior trained for battle while still sucking on a pacifier. Not surprisingly, he grows up with no interest in holding down a desk job. Instead he earns his living killing monsters. He’s also a member of a brotherhood founded long ago to protect people from werewolves, the undead, and other beasts.

Main Features:

  • Real time combat with motion captured animations performed by a master of medieval sword combat.
  • Ragdoll and rigid body physics, powered by CriterionÂ’s Karma Engine to simulate interaction with opponents as well as elements of surrounding.
  • Complex storyline and coherent setting.
  • Most quests can be accomplished in several ways.
  • Three different endings that depend on player’s actions and choices throughout the whole adventure.

Who should buy this game: We haven’t played The Witcher so we can’t tell you if this is any good. But if you’re the Van Helsing type with a bloodlust for killing supernatural bad guys sounds like a match made in hell. If you’re a fan of Andrzej Sapkowski (if you just went Saplowhothehellishe?, you’re not a fan) this may be for you, too. The game’s not based on Sapkowski’s novels and stories but uses some of his settings.
