The world’s first ever virtual homecoming football game
School doesn’t have a football team but the students are clamoring for a homecoming game? That was the dilemma Ringling and Central Florida‘s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy were facing, and they managed to come up with one heck of a solution: grab a copy of EA’s NCAA Football ’07 and battle it out with each other in the world’s first ever virtual homecoming football game to be held at Ringling’s new Student Center exhibition hall on Saturday, October 7.
We have no idea how both schools selected their respective players (quite possibly through an elimination process) or which teams they’ll be using (random? team creation using D20s to roll stats?), but the game is supposed to have all the trimmings of a true homecoming game: pregame and halftime shows, giveaways, stadium-style refreshments, cheerleaders, and an appearance by a school mascot – in this case, the Ringling Armadillo. We guess that means the homecoming queen won’t be virtual too.
This game is part of the Ringling SchoolÂ’s homecoming weekend and year-long 75th anniversary celebration. If you’re in the area and looking for something to do, why not drop by and watch? Remember, October 7 at the Ringling Student Center exhibition hall. The game starts 3:30 pm.
