This Just In: “Take Two Gets Sued… Again”.

RockstarJust when the perennial bad boys at Rockstar and Take Two thought it was safe to uncurl from the fetal position they get slapped in the face again. This time by the formidable hands of a Warrior, or ex-Warrior, in the form of Roger Hill. Roger Hill played Cyrus in the movie The Warriors, upon which the Rockstar game of the same name is based. Hill’s suit is for a mere 250,000 big ones and he seeks to bar the companies from using his likeness in the game. He states that Rockstar and Take Two made him an offer to use his voice and name in the game, but after he refused negotiations were terminated.

For their part a Take Two spokesperson mentioned that they had obtained third party rights that granted the companies the use of Hill’s character and likeness.

On the one hand the man has a point, twenty seven years ago when The Warriors was filmed he probably never dreamed of the possibility that his face could appear in a videogame made by one of the most controversial game developers of the modern era. I guess you just have to be careful about putting your name down on that dotted line. But seriously, just how much abuse can these guys take before either the company goes under, or they’re bought out?
