THQ acquires Mass Media Inc.
California-based game maker THQ Inc. has just announced in a press release that it has acquired independent game developer, Mass Media Inc. as part of its move “to further enhance THQ’s internal, next-generation console development capabilities”. According to THQ’s executive vice president of worldwide studios, Jack Sorensen, the addition of Mass Media “brings a wealth of gaming expertise to our talented, extremely collaborative Studio System”.
In the meantime, it seems that this new partnership with THQ has long been expected, as a quick look at Mass Media’s website shows a title in the gallery which is currently known as “Project X”. The description notes that it’s a next-gen title with details that they cannot disclose just yet.
Mass Media Inc. is known for a whole library of games which it developed for the GBA, the PS2, the GameCube, and the Xbox1. The company was also the one who made the N64 version of the classic RTS title, Starcraft. THQ, on the other hand, is known for having brought to us games such as Saints Row, Company of Heroes, and Destroy All Humans, to name just a few.
