Since its fiscal year ended last March 31, 2008, it’s no surprise that THQ has been busy lately. For one thing, the publisher has reported its fourth quarter financial results and has announced both a licensing agreement with DreamWorks Animation and the exact release date of WWE Legends of Wrestlemania.
According to THQ, the end of the fiscal year yielded a net loss of US$ 35.3 million and net sales of US$ 1,030.5 million. The fourth quarter of the fiscal year indicated net sales of US$ 34.5 million and net sales amounting to US$ 187 million. Sales were led by Frontlines: Fuel of War (PC, Xbox 360), MX vs. ATV Untamed and WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008.
Furthermore, THQ and DreamWorks Animation have entered into an exclusive game development and publishing agreement based on the latter’s scheduled 2010 Fall film. The movie (working title: Master Mind) is reportedly a satirical take on the superhero genre. It tells the story of a supervillain in search of a new motivation after having killed his archrival.
Finally, THQ has announced the exact release date for their new WWE-themed title, WWE Legends of Wrestlemania. The publisher has scheduled this game for release on March 25, 2009, which will coincide with the Wrestlemania 25 event in Houston, Texas.
