THQ expects Wii sales to reach multi-million quickly

thqDoes anybody really think the Wii console will flop? Maybe a couple of companies (we won’t tell you who they are) are hoping it will flop, but even they aren’t holding their breath.

THQ (Saints Row, The Sopranos) on the other hand is one company that thinks Nintendo will kill right off the bat.

“We expect this platform to reach a multi-million installed base quickly,” says THQ CEO Brian Farrell.

In fact, THQ is so confident of Wii’s success it is focusing strongly on the Wii with four titles all set to debut alongside the console. These are Cars, Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Crab, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Barnyard.

In contrast, THQ believes the PS3 will take a bit longer to build its fan base – in 2007 – which is why their PS3 titles (Frontlines: Fuel of War, Stuntman, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw) will not be available until 2008.
