THQ forecasts in-game ads revenues for 2008
It’s pretty old news that in-game adverts are a usual in the titles we see today. But then, how much do companies rake in for the plugs? According to game publisher THQ, plenty – as they expect a cool US$ 5 million (EUR 3.85M) in revenues by 2008 from in-game advertising.
“This is a growing market, and we have placed ads now in MX, Juiced, Stuntman, and at least one other franchise,” said THQ boss Brian Farell in a recent interview. And while this was THQ’s best estimates, Mr. Farell added he “would not be surprised” if the company’s earnings surpassed the US$ 5 million mark. It will be noted that Farell previously made mention of THQ’s other sequels in the works, with the Stuntman expected to hit this year, along with Saints Row.
