THQ “not too concerned” on Saints Row 2 nudity backlash

In Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), there’s a task there that’ll have you “streak closely to as many people as possible” to earn “Respect” stats. Fun, huh? But will the ratings boards find it funny?

Craig Mitchell of THQ media relations is looking confident.:

In terms of backlash from the game’s content, we are not too concerned. THQ and [Saints Row developer] Volition have worked within the guidelines of the ESRB and the international ratings boards and the game has been rated appropriately.

In North America, the game has been given an M for Mature rating. Apart from that, the ESRB’s content descriptor for the game , which will be on Saint Row #@%!4

5#@%!’s packaging included Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, Strong Language and Use of Drugs.

“In streaking, the character’s front is blurred out, plus, all the characters were made ‘asexual’ so even a possible mod/hack would not reveal anything,” explained Mitchell. The game’s character customization is so in-depth that you can actually create male or female characters in the nude, albeit with frontal blurs.

Saints Row 2 will be streaking your way on October 14.
