THQ is set to bring us some more family-friendly games in the year ahead, thanks to their newly-acquired exclusive rights to game tie-ins with Dreamworks. Not only did they acquire rights for these tie-ins, they also gained rights for the consoles online services.
This acquisition will see the release of three film-games initially: Kung-Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom, Puss in Boots (an upcoming Shrek spin-off), and The Penguins of Madagascar, based on the animated TV series. It also seems that these titles will be released on the consoles’ online services, as the press wire indicates that THQ has also acquired rights for “Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Nintendo Wii Virtual Console”.
First to be released will be the penguins, due out next year. The rest of the titles will be released simultaneously with their movie counterparts, set in 2011.
