Through the red tape: Vivendi UK staff moves to Activision facility
The paperwork for the merger is over; now comes the hard part. Vivendi‘s UK office has been reduced to a skeleton crew as majority of its staff will move to Activision‘s facility in Stockley Park. Activision Blizzard‘s Andrew Brown reports that the layoffs due to redundancies have been kept to a minimum:
We’re really pleased with what’s happened – there are some great calibre individuals at Vivendi and in the end, while some people chose to consider their futures elsewhere, a lot of people decided to join us.
The reality is that practically everybody made redundant chose that option. It certainly wasn’t that we said ‘Okay, let’s cut the workforce’ – it didn’t work like that at all.
We offered people a lot more jobs than were taken in the end. And weÂ’ve tried to make sure everybody who did come across felt that it was a positive move. I think a lot of people made the active choice to join the business rather than feeling they were in a corner.
Which means that most of the talents from both teams have been kept intact. Pretty soon, the ball will get rolling and we’ll see what wonders Activision Blizzard will bring. Anyone for a Guitar Hero MMO? No? Just wondering.
Vivendi’s UK office will shut down as soon as the facility in Stockley Park is established as the primary base of operations.
