Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 Swings To PSP

Thanks to Tiger, golf has shed some of its old man’s smell and is becoming more attractive to younger people. Take the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 7 for the PSP. If not for Tiger, golf and PSP would never even appear in the same sentence. Tiger Woods PGA 07 is something old yet offers something new.

The game uses the FedEx Cup system where players enter events throughout the regular season and earn points based on their performance. For the season’s final four games, only the top 30 players get to rumble on the course for the FedEx Cup. Okay, maybe rumble is not the right word for it, but golf is as competitive as any sporting event. Just less bloody. This new playoff format is what is used in the in Tiger Woods PGA 07 single-player game.

After creating a virtual golfer (via the game-face feature set) the next step is to decide the events to play – each one an opportunity to improve putting, power, chipping, and other skills. The format of the tournament may be new but it continues Tiger Woods PGA gameplay tradition.

To swing the club, pull back the analog stick then push it forward. To shoot straight, move the stick directly back and then forward and so on. To help check the force of the swing, a new power meter has been included. Another new addition for Tiger Woods PGA 07 is the shooting alley minigame where the player’s virtual golfer tries to hit three rows of plate-glass windows. Now that’s something the old pre-Tiger fuddy-duddy golfers would never do!

Tiger Woods PGA 07 is due this October.
